Amiable compositeur, also referred to as “ex aequo et bono” is a legal term of art. In the context of arbitration, it refers to the power of arbitrators to dispense with consideration of the law and consider solely what they consider to be fair and equitable in the case at hand.

This blog will emulate its namesake to a degree, in that while it is devoted to legal consideration, it frequently does so through an equitable lens, and concentrates on general issues of fairness in society.
